Board our domestic flight and depart Cape Town for Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape. Arrive in PE and travel by private vehicle through the scenic countryside to Barefoot Addo Elephant Lodge. Settle into your beautiful forest chalets and then enjoy some sunset drinks and delicious dinner at the restaurant overlooking the waterhole before bed.
After a scrumptious breakfast meet rescued bull elephants Duma, Thaba and Mukwa. Learn all about elephant conservation from the elephant's passionate carers and hear the rescue story of these 3 gentle giants before going on a guided walk with the elephants through the nature reserve and feeding them their tasty pellets. After this very inspiring experience we travel to the stunning Buffalo Kloof Game Reserve, world renowned for it;s cheetah and rhino conservation. After settling into our accomodation we enjoy lunch followed by an afternoon game drive in our private safari vehicle with our ranger.
After breakfast we meet the conservation team and wildlife vet and participate in a rhino collaring procedure. Using sophisticated AI tracking technology these collars are used to combat rhino poaching and protect this vulnerable species from poachers! After the vet darts the rhino from a helicopter we help to fit the collar and then do a general health check on the rhino. Its then time for an exhilarating helicopter flight over the reserve where you will get a birds eye view of the many species of roaming wildlife from above. End the day with some sunset drinks and an afternoon safari drive where you will be sure to have many amazing photo opportunities.
After waking for an early morning game drive join the reserve's ecologist for the rare opportunity to track one of the habituated cheetahs on foot. Learn about the unique challenges cheetah conservationists face while capturing this unforgettable moment up close in the wilderness. Spend the afternoon relaxing at the lodge before enjoying an afternoon game drive while admiring this stunning landscape before stopping at a spectacular lookout point to watch the sunset!
After a delicious breakfast and an early morning game drive we say farewell to the wonderful team at Buffalo Kloof reserve and catch our flight back to Cape Town. Today marks the end of this once in a lifetime safari with plenty of photos and special memories to take home!
